Sagaponack Village, Southampton Town, NY 11962

One of the earliest parts of Southampton to be settled, Sagaponack was founded in 1653, originally called Sagg and was the home of farmers, fishermen and whalers. The Village of Sagaponack was incorporated in 2005. The Sagaponack Historic District, which includes homes, farms, the one-room school (still in operation) and the general store/post office, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2000. Known for its exceptionally beautiful ocean beaches, Sagaponack extends north across some of the most fertile farmland on Long Island.
