About : Amagansett
Amagansett, located between East Hampton and Montauk, is among the most popular hamlets in the Hamptons, offering pristine white, sandy beaches, magnificent oceanfront real estate and historic Main Street with its restaurants and shops. Founded in 1680, Amagansett’s name derives from a Native American Montaukett word for “place of good water.” Amagansett still retains an emotional connection to the area’s original inhabitants. The Marine Museum, in a former Coast Guard station, is located on Bluff Road overlooking the ocean and houses exhibits on the history of whaling and fishing on eastern Long Island.
